What is the North London Youth Orchestra?
The North London Youth Orchestra is a community youth orchestra based in Barnet, North London which started in Autumn 2024.
What standards would I have to be to join?
The playing standard requested is usually grade 6+ for strings, and grade 7+ for other sections. However, please ask us if you’d still like to be considered; we are an inclusive community orchestra and there may be room to create a part that’s right for you. We do ask that every player commits to the rehearsals and study the repertoire broadly, by reading up about it, practising and listening. There is no need to have taken an exam.
How can I join the North London Youth Orchestra?
To join the North London Youth Orchestra, please fill in an application using the Apply button above. Although there is not so much as an audition, we would like everyone to send a short video of their playing. Please see here for more information.
What is the membership fee?
The member subscription is £135 per term (11-12 rehearsals per term, and 2 main concerts per year, with a possibility of a shorter performance in the summer term)
Are there bursaries available?
There may be bursaries available. We would like to try our best to make NLYO accessible to as many players. Please contact us.
